We are excited to share our new Black & White Butterfly acrylic painting tutorial, created to accompany our latest painting video.
This expressive artwork uses a simple Black and White palette to create a dramatic butterfly surrounded by abstract texture, soft gray transitions, bold wing shapes, finger-painted effects, fine details, and energetic splatter.
The butterfly gradually emerges from the abstract background rather than sitting separately on top of it. Some edges remain strong and dark, while others soften and disappear into the surrounding texture. This creates a beautiful balance between recognizable form and expressive abstraction.
One of the most interesting parts of this painting is the combination of brushes and direct finger painting. Paint is pushed, blended, smeared, and softened directly on the canvas, giving the artwork a spontaneous character that makes every version unique.
