When you begin a piece do you have a clear vision in your head? Also, how do you decide when your piece is finished?

Thank you Josiah for your questions. I usually start with a blurry idea of what I want to paint. I plan in my head on the different stages I will have to go through to get to the final destination and sometimes add new ideas as they arrive during process.
